Roof damage

Posted by Nancy on May 27th, 2003 07:39 AM

We waited until our roof started leaking before we replaced it. Too, too long.

We asked our roofer that if he saw any damage or anything that needed to be replaced under there to let us know before he roofed. He said he would. A few weeks after the roofing, my husband was replacing a fascia board and realized that the wood had been rotting under a part of the roof. We now wonder what else was rotting that we haven't been told about. This worries me. Am I right to worry about this? (My husband doesn't seem to worry about it at all). If so, how can I check to find out if there is more damage? Should everything that is rotted be fixed or replaced? I want a safe, solid house, but don't want to fix things that don't need to be fixed.

Thank you for your reply.
