Instead of guessing, look at the wire colors used at the switch. Take the plate off and look how the switches are wired. That should give you a pretty good idea of what wires to use. At least what two wires are the Hot leads. Use a multimeter and test the leads at the fan rough-in (outlet). The meter will go from 0 volts AC to approximately 115 volts AC when the switch is turned on.
