Smoothing out Polyshades

I just installed pine wood work around doors and stair case. I used All minwax products. First i treated the wood with the pre stain wood conditioner, followed with a coat of Polyshades. Let it dry over night Sanded the first coat with 0000 steel wool. Then applied the second coat of Polyshade. The surface on the second coat is a little rough. Before staining all the wood was sanded up to 220 grit. I used tack clothes in between all the steps of the staining Can you tell me how to smooth the surface and keep the gloss finish Thanx Chet Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
