Hi Lisa!
I hope this note doesn't come too late for ya!
I sell RL paints at a ND hardware-store, and caution people about using the Suede paint in any moisture-laden area.
The main "problem" per se, isn't the Suede paint itself CAUSING any mildew, it's just not able to resist any moisture penetration because Suede doesn't have any SHEEN to it that resists moisture, such as a SEMI-GLOSS paint would have.
You can kind of "imitate" the look of suede if you use some regular paints/glazing techniques, but use either a SATIN or SEMI-GLOSS finish...THAT'S the REAL key in a high-moisture room!
Suede is great for any other "dry" room in the house that doesn't need to be cleaned very often, such as living-rooms, dens, adults bedrooms, etc.
It's always best to prime first, so your first coat doesn't absorb into the wall unevenly.
Hope this helps!
Faron J.
