Popular Mechanics - Do It Yourself Encyclopedia, Volume 7 (ME-PA) Copyright 1955 has tons of outdoor fireplace & Grill Plans (brick, stone, concrete and rubble). Check old book stores for a copy of this book. I have my father's old copy of this volume. This is the only book that I have found that shows these fireplaces. Everyone else is pushing the gas-grill thing.
