Installing a shower Posted by Myrna on June 4th, 2003 12:57 AM In reply to Installing a shower in a Mobile Home by Mitch on February 9th, 2003 01:00 PM [Go to top of thread]
Mitch.. We are currently renovating a 1976 mobile and we ran into the same problem. The 1 piece fiberglass harvest Gold tub/shower unit had some holes in it, and besides, it was Harvest gold. So we replaced it with a Neoangle Shower this winter, I love the Shower. We put a whole new subfloor, replaced the hot water heater, and rebuilt the vanity a little taller and with one sink instead of 2 tiny ones. Replaced the toilet too. anyways 1 piece of advice... Make sure you LEVEL the shower, BEFORE you cement it in. One small slip can cause many hours of heartache. If you don't the water will not all run down the drain and some will pool in the shower. So we decided since we discovered our mistake before the walls went up, to redo it if we could get it apart. Well thanks to another mistake we were able to get it apart.. Then we had to remove the cement. Well he chipped at it for hours, Then I chipped at it for hours, then he wondered if it would help at all to get it wet and he put a wet rag on the small area we had left to do. Wouldn't you know it, it came off like wet packed sand. Hope our experience will help you a little... Myrna Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
