I am goint to replace my a/c compressor as it is 22 years old and life would be miserable if it failed in the middle of a heat wave. I've talked with several estimators and settled on a 10 seer 2.5 ton unit, which brand/model exactly I have yet to decide.
I am considering installing the unit myself. My father-in-law is a retired electrician and could handle the wiring/hookup. If I buy a precharged unit, it would seem that all I would have to do is to sweat the copper line connections and the unit would be installed. Is it this simple or am I missing something?
