Take out the old unit and set the new one. Do the wiring. But sub out the copper and the refrigerant to a pro who has the equipment and does it for a living. It will make a difference.
Have you looked at the more efficient units? A 14 SEER Puron unit uses the next generation refrigerant and will be about 30% more efficient than a 10 SEER unit.
