I am in recent possession of my parents oak kitchen table circa 1940. It has been in a basement of a relative for the past 4 years. When I received it, a one foot portion had raised and split veener, though not completely loosened from the underlying wood. Also about a 2 inch piece of the same cornor is broken out. Refinishing and sanding is not an option since there is a painted or stained design in the veneer which would be lost if I sanded it. Can anyone help me solve this dilemma to make the table usable and attractive again? What kind of glue should I use to reglue the raised portion and replace the missing veneer?
