There is only one reason to bag when you mow that I can think of beside the issue of thatching which is when old clippings form a carpet blocking water and nutrients from the roots of your growing grass. This can be avoided by using a mulching mower and mowing often by only having small sized clippings. Enough suspense-- the reason to bag is to use in your compost pile. These clippings along with pine straw and other garden waste are excellent when used in between layers of kitchen waste etc. for your compost pile. I find this a much better use then the small benefit one gets from the small amount of nitrogen the lawn gets after each mowing. Still your call. Either way not brain surgery.
