Why is it that there are two double circuit breakers as opposed to one single breaker. On the 100 amp breaker that I have seen in the home improvement stores there is a single, two line (red & Black) ganged circuit breaker. When I look at the 200 amp service main boxes there are two-ganged circuit breakers rated for 200 amps. Is this a fail safe approach, if one set of breakers goes bad the other duel breaker picks up the safey factor?
