RL Suede paint - "Ocean ceiling" use! Posted by Faron J. on June 11th, 2003 09:42 AM In reply to RL Suede at the beach?? by Rick on June 8th, 2003 12:39 AM [Go to top of thread]
Hi Rick!
No way...dont' use it anywhere in your house if that's the conditions you often have!!!!
Again, I've mixed a lot of RL paints for customers, & I always caution them when they mention a possible bathroom/kitchen use.
Reason: There is no "sheen" to the Suede paint. It's a very flat finish, unable to resist frequent moisture exposure. A "Semigloss" or "Satin" finish would be a MUCH better choice for your walls; & you could even use an "Eggshell" finish for your ceiling, as opposed to the typical "flat" ceiling-white.
Another alternative: Read up on some faux-finishing techniques (sponging, ragging, etc.), because there's a lot of cool ideas for effects on walls/ceilings using the "traditional" wall-paints & clear glazes. Again, use at least a Satin sheen to resist moisture!
Thanks,
