Clawfoot Tub Help

Posted by Frank on June 11th, 2003 11:06 AM

I posted this earlier in the week, but got no input. I'm thinking of picking it up on Friday.

I went and looked at an old cast iron clawfoot tub this weekend, and was wondering if it was a good deal?

It's actually on a pedestal, but I can add the feet. It has the holes drilled, but no fixtures.

The inside porcelin(?) looks in good shape, ie no chips or cracks, just some years of grime. Is CLR safe to use to clean this?

The outside is a beige color and is chipping. What would be the process for stripping, and painting the exterior, and what type of paint should I use?

Finally, the guy wants $350 for it. Good deal? We've been looking at new ones, and they can really get up there in price.

Looking for advice. Thanks.
