You ask some interesting questions. Some of the information may, or may not, be related to your problems.
Have you tried looking in the sump hole before and after you turn on the dishwasher to see what the difference is? You might be able to trace the source that way.
Next, find out what the pipe is in the back yard? Where does it come from?
As far as the roof goes, without seeing it, it's hard telling!
