I have never made an I-joist to LVL connection, but on I-joist to I-joist we often fill the webwith 3/4" plywood pieces (figure F-18 on link) to provide a stronger, full-width connection. This works at bracing points and end connections. The use of blocking panels may be what you are looking for to stabilize the i-joist laterally. This is used at all end connections like rim-joists and terminating beams, even with hangers. (See F-7 in link below)
