Weeping Willow transplant

In reply to WIllow Tree Roots by Diane Reed on October 16th, 2000 01:41 PM [Go to top of thread]

Two weeks ago we planted a 9-foot olive weeping willow sapling. It is now leaning all the way to the ground and we fear we may have not planted it deeply enough. Will it cause more harm than good to re-dig the hole? Also, the soil is largely clay, so we are worried it's not getting enough moisture. Do we need to re-plant it in a mixture of soils, and again, will re-planting shock it too severely? It is a beautiful graceful tree and we want to see it flourish. We have staked it loosely in the hopes the trunk will re-gain its strength and firmness. Please advise and thank you for providing this helpful service.
Warmly, Yaicha
