roof repair/metal over shingles? need help

We live in a mobile home with an wooden addition. The roof to the addition is 16 x 25 and has a roll roof now. There is an area that is bad that is allowing water to leak into our livingroom in different areas. We would like to put the 16 foot metal roofing strips on. Is it alright to just repair the bad area and replace just the bad plywood, felt and roll roof and then go over the entire roof with the metal strips ? What all materials would I need to buy for this project ? Please help with our do-it-ourself project. Thank you
