I think your equipment matters the most. If you're using a low quality miter, then expect the same quality job on the cuts. Take your time and practice until you get it down, or buy an electric miter saw. Depends on what type of stock you're cutting too. Also how square the house is etc. There's alot of factors involved. I just did an older house where the rooms were 2 to 3 inches out of square. Each cut was different.
