Help,
This isn't really a question, but a request. My husband and I are desperate. We are restoring a Lancaster County Farmhouse that was orignally built in the 1780s. There is one room that only had a wavy sub floor and carpet. We are trying to transform this room into the master bedroom and match the floor with the rest of the original floors. The room used to be a root storage area and in the 1970's it was renovated into a modern den. My husband ripped all of the wood paneling off the walls, removed the modern window trim and replaced it with hand made trim to match the rest of our house, he removed the carpet, and started a new lighting project. He also found some used yellow pine boards approximately 12" wide to make a new floor. The wood was used and even after milling in the tongue and grooves, the boards in the barn started to warp and were unuseable. As of now he has put in 18 boards on the wavy sub floor (you know how hard this is) and has run out of wood. He needs about 700 more square feet of 12" random length yellow pine boards. We do not have a lot of money and wanted to know if we could tap into any of your resources. WE are also in the process of putting in a new septic system and a new roof. Note we are only 25 years old and taking on one big project. My husband does all the work himself, but the materials are getting very pricy. I know that this letter is a long shot and you probably will ignore it, but we are trying to preserve history in this small PA town and we want to do it right.
Thank you so much.
