Door repair

Posted by Mike on June 16th, 2003 07:02 AM

This weekend, we had a thunderstorm with strong winds. The storm door was not shut completely, and the wind blew it open. There are two cylinders on the door, one at top and one at bottom. The wind pulled one cylinder out completely, splitting the wood jamb. The wood at the other cylinder pulled out, but wasn't split as badly.

Can I repair just this piece of wood? Any other repair suggetions.

I plan to get longer screws when I repair it, so I can get into the 2x4 stud. The screws that were in the door were only about 1" long.

Thanks for your help.

Mike
