Staining log siding

Posted by Jodie on June 17th, 2003 10:43 AM

I have pine log siding, that was stained first time 3years ago with "Behr" natural then cleaned and stained again year before last. As of two weeks ago it was covered in mold (mildew?). I have cleaned with a pressure washer and bleach mixure and am ready to stain. (I just found out that there is a recall for mold on the Behr stain). I have purchased an Olympic oil based exterior (toner) stain. When I looked at it I noticed it is thin like the stains I have used for interior staining. The Behr was a thicker texture like polyeurothene. Have I purchased the right thing? Is this stain going to protect my wood? I read a couple of post about oil based being bad for mold. In hindsight I didn't see any latex products. Help, I afraid to start staining.
