We purchased a Maytag Neptune in 1998 after having a conventional Maytag washer for 20 years that I loved (gave it to a friend..it is still working...thought I deserved a 'top of the line'). It has been nothing but problems with the computer board being replaced twice, and the latch once. My laundered clothes smell and are just not as clean. It is currently dead in the water after water came pouring out the door flooding my laundry room with 2" of water. Thank goodness we were home and could turn the water off at the source. Since it is out of warranty, Maytag says I have to pay for the diagnosis and then see if they will pay for anything.
