Tack strip, or better known as tackless, should be no further than 1/4 of an inch from the wall. ( certainly not in the area of foot traffic ) If its in a doorway, then you will feel it (tackstrip is put down in mostcases behind any transisitions to hold the streach in the carpet) Might I suggest useing a 2x4 and and hammer to bed the tacks a little further down so you dont feel them (if its in the doorway)
