I found that the switch or multistage capacitor (cap) fails, it's a small black rectangular box with multiple leads going to the switch. It will have the cap values along with the appropriate wire colors usually printed on the side. There are replacements at Home Depot and a few different value types, make sure you get the proper value. Hope this helps.
