seam repair

Just had a new countertop installed and am not happy with the seams. I was expecting the seam to be virtually invisible and smooth to the touch--neither of which I have. Installer said it could be repaired by undoing the seams, etc. Any one gone thru this? Sounds to me like the solution might be more than I bargained for or could be the installer is making it seem a big production to discourage me from having it repaired.
