Window sashes (the up's and down's on how it's done ?)

Hi", Bowlerj,
This is how it's done, look at your window, you have
a top and bottom, now look at the sides, you will see a
stop bead, one on the left and one on the right.
Now between the two sashes you have another bead
this is called parting bead ( I dont have to tell you why)
you can see why,..................
If possible lower the top sash down, watch your fingers, ok,
remove both stop beads from the windlow, the bottom sash is
now free, remove the sash and place it on your left.
You will now see the parting bead, that holds the top sash
to the window, take them out, and remove the top sash,.
now look on the left hand side you will see a small door,
whith a groove running down the middle. (some times its screwed
some times its nailed, remove this door and place it on the
floor to the left, now do the same with the door on the right
but this time place it on the right again on the floor.
Inside you will see two weights, (big windows have big weights)
little windows have little weights),." I say this, because some times the bottom
sash is larger then the top sash"
Now for the big show, before you start on the windows you should
have bought some cotton cord ( cotton is the best)
you can buy this in most hardware stores.
you will need some small nails about 1" or 1"1/4"with large
flat heads.
The most important tool you will have to make,its called
a mouse, find some sheet lead, cut some off to the size of 1"x 2"
get some twine 4' long(string)and with the lead fold it around the string
so you have lead 1/2" x 2" long with the end of the string inside it
bend the lead a little so its not straight but with a little bend in it.
