I am planning on replacing my tiled shower floor with an Acrylic/Fiberglass base. Fortunately, it appears that my existing shower is a standard size. The bases I have priced so far appear to be installed directly on the floor and secured directly to the studs.
Does anyone have experience with this? When I start ripping up my old tile floor what should I expect down there (before I reach a sub-floor?). Any gotcha's? Advice?
I've thought about replacing the existing floor with tile, but I have heard this is very difficult. I don't believe my existing floor slopes properly and I'm worried about leakage below. I don't think replacing pan/bed is something I want to get into.
