Tap in a sink drain

You can probably cut the standpipe and install a 2-1/2" wye connection. The wye can be reduced (or may be purchased with a 1-1/2" reduced T) to accept a standard P trap for a laundry sink. In fact, the standpipe should have an S-trap before hitting the sewer line, so a P-trap on the sink is probably optional since sewer gas is stopped by the existing laundry trap. It should be a fairly easy install.
