Won't Work

Gluing beadboard alone without some other type of fastener like paneling nails generally will not work.

The reason is there will be a natural tendancy of the wood product to 'flex' which is greater than the adhesion of the glue. This means you will have to hold the beadboard in place while the glue sets so it won't warp.

You 'might' be able to use 'glue' alone if you use 'contact adhesive'. Contact adhesive is what is used to apply veneer and formica type laminates. The adhesive is applied to both surface, then let to dry.

Once the laminate is touched to the other glued surface, in this case the tile, it is 'stuck' and stuck good.

Problem with contact adhesives is that there is little (if any) room for error.

If you cut the piece and apply it to the wall, it's stuck and you cannot adjust it.

Perhaps others may have better ideas, but from my point of view, it's not a practical choice to try to glue beadboard over tile.
