b, I'm not sure exact what you have but if you are trying to cut the board to match an opening, one trick is to cover the area with a big sheet or two of paper, then rub from the front to follow the line that you wnat to cut to with a pencil. You want to make like a rubbing showing what areas have wall under them and what areas have nothing.

If you know that you will have to use 2 or more pieces of the beadboard, find a big piece of cardboard and tape that up where one board would go, then trace the cut line from behind the cardboard. A variation of this is to put up one piece of cardboard and cut a hole in the center so that you can reach behind and trace the cut line you want.

Once you have the cardboard or other pattern material traced, you can cut on the cut line with a utility knife to give you a pattern to mark the work. There are a lot of variations on these general ideas that you can use.
