I am having the same problem with conflicting stories from the heating contractors. What did you find out if anything? It seems there are no correct answers. We also have a 2 story colonial and have been told the same thing. Lennox wants a single stage and Amana wants to put in 2 stage with varialble speed. However there is also a 1500.00 price difference. Thanks for any info you could provide
