Well, I am doing this for the first time, basically as well. I have a circular saw to cut out a rectangle of the flooring that is bad and to cut my two pieces of plywood (2 different thicknesses)to the size I remove from the floor...then I have a drill and a jigsaw to cut out the hole for the pipe.

I "think" the toilet is bolted to a flange that is connected to the pipe. I have a couple t-bolts that I am hoping I can just insert in the flange and bolt the toilet to...hmm...but maybe I need to cut a recess in the new boards I am putting down for the flange? I don't know, I'll find out tomorrow or the next day when I actually take the next step and yank the old toilet off.

I am rambling..sorry. Tools!

-circular saw to cut flooring and new flooring
-jigsaw to cut hole for drain
-hammer and nails to fasten new flooring and maybe tack on 2x4 supports if I don't cut out the old flooring exactly over joists.
- a level to make sure your toilet is level would be good, I think I have one of those.
-wrench to tighten nuts on the bolts that fasten toilet to floor.

that might be it, just brainstorming here...

Steve
