My husband and I are in the process of purchasing a turn of the century home in Mississippi. We have recieved a summary report from the inspector and feel most of the work we can handle ourselves ( this thanks to the many hours I have devoted to watching your show and my husband's common sense).
The inspector has reported that some pier work may be involved. Do you think this is something to cause us to walk away from this house? Drainage in the yard has also been sited as a potential problem near the foundation.
On the outside this seems to be a dream home, we are a military family and this is the first area of the country we have found a home of this size (2600 sq. ft.) we could afford. We are hoping it could even serve as a retirement home in several years. Any advice would be appreciated.
