We have a 18,000 BTU unit that has been in the wall for about 12 years, the unit is going on 18 years old and we would like to replace it with a bigger unit, 24,000 BTU.
My question is the old unit weight about 110 lbs or so and the newer unit will weigh 160 lbs. Would we have to do anything to make the opening stronger to hold the weight or will it be ok.
