Help! We are looking to buy a home with a white painted brick fireplace that looks like it seriously needed to be repainted. It is partially black from sut around the opening. Yuck! I don't care for the painted brick look but it is what we will have to live with. I doubt the brick underneath looks good so removing the paint is probably not an option. Any suggestions for other colors, how to do this and what type of paint?
