2.5 Ton Goodman A/C Unit - 13 Seer Posted by grasshopper on July 8th, 2003 09:52 AM In reply to 2.5 Ton Goodman A/C Unit - 13 Seer by cynthia martinez on July 7th, 2003 09:42 AM [Go to top of thread]
The relative humidity delivered by A/C is dependent on the outside temp/^F dew point, % run time of the A/C, temperature of the cooling coil, and the moisture generate inside the home. With hot outdoor temperatures, high 80-90% run time, 45^F coil (50-55^F air to the home), and no inside water leaks expect 50% RH. But when its rainy for several days without high cooling load, expect high indoor %RH. Most experts suggest 50% RH for comfort and indoor air quality. You will need supplemental dehumidification to maintain 50%RH during the rainy times. The green grass climates are far above normal rain amounts this year high humidity/mold growth is common. Also check your %RH meter by putting the meter in a sealed plastic bag with 2 tbls of salt and 1 tbls of water in a cup in the bag with the meter. the meter should read 75% RH after a hour.
