Bathroom Disaster!

Dear Bob,
I certainly hope that you can help me! I have a major mold problem in my shower. Over time, the tileboard has peeled and is now molded and it stinks! I've tried to clean it, but whenever I do, the tileboard just continues to peel right off. Neither me or my husband are "handymen" and we've called out professionsals but the estimates were between $2-$3,000 (something we can't afford at this time). I have 3 children who I haven't allowed to have company stay overnight in a couple of years because I don't want them to have to use the shower. It's just that bad! Please, please help!
