We need a backup for our sump pump in case the electriciy goes out. The existing hole for the sump pump is not big enough for the existing sump pump plus a battery operated sump pump. We do not feel that a generator is the sollution since we would have to be at home or awake when the electricity goes out to switch over.
Is it possible to have our existing sump pump connected to a battery backup (such as a Universal Power Supply like the one we use for our computers)? I realize that this would not help if the sump pump itself fails.
