placement of floor jacks

Posted by Wiseguy on July 13th, 2003 01:30 PM

I am remodeling my basement to add an entry to our family room. (We're tired of walking downstairs and seeing the water heater and furnace.) I have a floor jack that is exposed right inside the family room. If I remove part of the wall and change the traffic pattern into the family room, this floor jack will be right in the middle of the entry way. I would like to move the floor jack approx 30 inches towards the center of the basement (up against the remaining existing entry way wall). Is there any specs that I need to follow on the placement of this floor jack?
