Concrete vs: Soapstone Countertops

If we have decided to "not" use Granite for our countertops, and do not like the Corian type options, do you think that Soapstone is a better option than Concrete? I am worried about the softness of the soapstone (cutting on it, etc.) and the overall time required for upkeep on the soapstone (applying oils, etc.) versus the hardness (not caring about our knives) and maintenance free integrally colored concrete. What is your advise?
