I posted a question down there, because the whole anode rod thing kind of has me thinking now. I have 2 gas fired water heaters and expansion tank in continuous service since 1991. I am aware of the anode rod, but out of sight, out of mind, you know? Does anyone actually replace or inspect these as a matter of routine maintentance? If so, are they very difficult to extract (electolytic corrosion to threads)?
