oak floor refinishing

Just had oak floors refinished. Contractor said he put 5 coats of polyurthane--satin--with one coat of natural stain. I can see sanding wheel marks and the finish looks thin, with varying gloss levels( looks like it covered more in some areas). The small grooves in the wood and the spaces between the planks are covered, but not level with rest of wood----is more coats the answer? It really dosent appear to be 5 coats--is 5 heavy? Thanks
