Asbestos Siding (is it dangerous?) - purchasing home AS IS (pitfalls?)

Hi all,

I am planning to purchase a home that has asbestos siding. The paint on the siding is starting to peel off, so it will need to be repainted.

My first question is how dangerous is asbestos siding and are there any guidelines on how to strip off the old paint and repaint the siding without exposing myself to any health risks.

The second question is, this house is being sold as is. Is there anything in particular that I have to watch out for. I will have an inspector go over the house.
