Help! The stuff of nightmares. My father-in-law would like me to paint his ceiling. I am happy to do this as he is a great guy and we get along really well. I really do not want to screw this up. However, his ceiling is very rough, with almost sand-like grains that fall to the floor when touched.

How do I go about doing this successfully while minimising the drop-off of these grains from the ceiling. Some advice suggest using a 1-1.5 inch nap on the roller......

Should we enlist the help of a pro to spray the ceiling?

Hope someone can help.
