We live in South Texas where their are no basements. All the duct work and AC are in the attic space. We just purchased a 3 year old, 2600 sq. ft. home where their are only 2 air returns. The house is a two story and very very open, specially to the upstairs area. The master bedroom is downstairs and gets extremely hot!!! We have had several AC repairmen out to look at it, and even add freon. They all told us the same thing "needs an air return in the bedroom. The ceilings in the master bedroom are about 12 ft. high. Their are 2 vents in the bedroom ceiling. It just doesn't cool enough. It's also hot at night. If an air return is suggested, approximately how much will I pay? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I am at my wits end!
