Our whole house, built in 1990 is tall ceilings and 7-foot tall interior doors (solid core). These taller doors (7 to 9 feet) are commonly available in CA and have become a standard feature in homes. Very few new custom homes are being built with 80" doors because they just don't look right and provide the sense of space. Custom builders in your area may be able to give you a lead on where to buy these doors. I'm sure they would share the name of their local supplier. You may not get the doors off the shelf at a lumber store, but they are just a special order, not a custom fabrication.
