We had squirrels that chewed through the facia board and made a nest, throwing out the insulation, etc. My husband ripped off the facia board and soffet. He now thinks it is ok to just shingle up to the rafters. There are no openings into the roof to let air circulate. This would leave the rafters exposed. Am I crazy or is this completely ridiculous. My husband says it's ok - lots of houses don't have facia boards - I've never seen exposed rafters on a house before. HELP, please. Thanks.
