We just applied new wallpaper border to our freshly painted bedroom walls. A few of the scalloped edges did not adhere to the wall, so we used a tube of wallpaper glue and put it on the underside of the paper and smoothed it out with a damp rag, per instructions. However, the excess glue that was wiped, stayed on the newly painted walls and has a left a very visible film on the painted wall around every scalloped edge we pasted! How do you remove this residue without damaging the new paint! We've tried warm water and soap, white vinegar and water, and nail remover. None of them have removed the glue residue.
