There is absolutely no problems with painting over the painted bricks, you don't even have to worry about sealing the brick, which I had to do on the brick wall I painted.

You need the right tools. Buy the best roller you can get for rough surfaces, a good primer paint and the right paint. You may have to use a brush to fill crevasses, but a rough surfaces roller will cover pretty much everything. The biggest problem I had with mine was that the wall was an outside wall at one point. The room was added as a sunroom, but some of the joints were missing between bricks, I had to do some mortar work before I could paint, otherwise the brush would have gathered all the filth from between the bricks.
