Leveling bathroom floor

We are changing a bedroom into a bathroom and notice that the floor rises in the middle. We planned to put down concrete board, but need to level the floor. The subfloor has slits in it. Should we put down plywood and then poor on a floor leveler substance (I thought I saw some on TV that leveled itself). What's the best way to level this floor before applying ceramic tile?
